Building the Foundations of Skilled Reading
Picture this scenario: It’s November, and you’re looking at your class roster. Seven students are already behind in reading. Three can sound out words but have no clue what they just read. Two understand everything you say but can’t decode simple sentences. One seems to guess at every word. Another shuts down completely when it’s time to read.

Here’s what might surprise you: most of these reading difficulties are actually preventable when we know what to do. That’s where this course comes in. You’re not just learning theory here—you’re developing the diagnostic skills and instructional strategies that will change your students’ lives.
This course requires 37.5 hours of study time to complete all assignments and the reflection questions as directed. There are 13 written assignments that are included in the lessons in the course. Also, you will find a number of opportunities to respond to and reflect on the content that you have encountered as a part of your work in this course.
