Instructional Strategies II - ElementaryThis course combines several elements of effective teaching and learning in a series of best practices that beginning teachers should work to master as quickly as possible. Lesson topics include setting objectives and providing feedback, nonlinguistic representations, note taking, comparing and classifying, metaphors and analogies, and summarizing.

The course also presents strategies for reinforcing effort and providing recognition to students. Not all students realize the importance of believing in effort, but beliefs can change when teachers make the connection between effort and achievement explicit.

The course also examines different kinds of homework and practice activities, with practical solutions to help students reinforce and extend their learning outside the classroom.
