The professional educator accepts personal responsibility for teaching the character qualities that will help students evaluate the consequences of, and accept responsibility for their choices and actions. The classroom teacher is a care provider and occupies a position of public trust. Success is measured not only in terms of academic achievement, but also citizenship including the abilities of each student to make a contribution to the community.

An effective classroom requires planning, alertness, patience, and knowledge of what each student needs. This course identifies specific behaviors and methods required by the teacher to keep his or her classroom running smoothly and efficiently, while providing maximum benefit to the students in his or her care.
