Welcome to Assistive Technology, the seventh course in the series Special Education.
Assistive technology is a special type of accommodation that facilitates and improves the overall learning experience for students with special needs and challenges. Assistive technology is used not only to enhance the learning experiences of students, but also to make academic materials more accessible. Generally, assistive technology allows students to use their strengths to compensate for their challenges. The use of the tools can increase the student’s confidence, independence, and stamina. Most forms of assistive technology focus on auditory, physical, or visual enhancements in the areas of listening, organization, mathematics, reading, or writing.
This course requires 20 hours of study time to complete all assignments and the reflection questions. There are seven written assignments including the reflection questions at the end of the course.
