Background & ConnectionsWelcome to Background & Connections, the first course in the series Differentiated Instruction.

Differentiating instruction encompasses a broad range of teaching and learning patterns that promote active involvement with instructional material. These include both teacher- and student-directed learning in large and small groups and independent study.

As you engage in this course, you will become more familiar with perspectives about and connections to differentiating instruction.

No two children are alike. No two children learn in the identical way. An enriched environment for one student is not necessarily enriched for another. In the classroom we should teach children to think for themselves.”
Marian Diamond, 2005

This course should take 8-10 hours of study time to complete all assignments and the reflection questions as directed. There are three written assignments including the reflection questions at the end of the course.
