Learning Objectives

This course expands on literacy instruction strategies, including resources for literacy instruction, strategies for teaching reading and writing together, differentiation of instruction for struggling readers, an organization system for the literacy classroom, the role of assessment and evaluation in literacy instruction, and the integration of technology into instructional approaches.

After completing this course the learner will be able to do the following:

• Justify the importance of teaching reading and writing together.
• Identify ways to differentiate instruction and support struggling readers.
• Outline the role of assessment and evaluation in literacy instruction.
• Design a system of organization for a literacy classroom.
• Integrate technology into instructional approaches.
