It extends those frameworks to advanced literacy instruction by integrating writing, morphology, and family engagement to support comprehensive literacy development.
From Knowledge to Practice: Building Expert Literacy Instruction
In E435A, you built a foundation by learning how reading develops, how to diagnose difficulties with core frameworks, and how to teach the five pillars systematically. This course builds directly on that knowledge. We’ll briefly reactivate those frameworks and pillars to ensure they’re fresh in your mind, but our focus here is extension. You’ll apply the Science of Reading to advanced challenges: morphology and syntax, integrating writing, using data to target complex comprehension needs, and building literacy partnerships with families and communities.
